Original art by Kiyotaka Haimura
from the 3rd Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index Light Novel
.I do not claim this artwork as my own.Lore:
One of the final scenes of the Hawaii Invasion Arc.
After Touma discovers that Leivinia Birdway has used him to draw out GREMLIN towards the now defected cooperative institutions of Academy City, Mikoto notices that Touma has the same look of despair on his face the same way she had during the killing of the Sisters. Touma tells Mikoto that he will not return to Academy City because he needs to bear the burden of what Leivinia has done. However, Mikoto, not wanting to lose Touma again, Mikoto says: ''"…Then I will bear that burden too."''
It ends in a sour note as Touma abandons Mikoto, not wanting her to get involved in his faults, and is speculated that if she gave the other half of the rings she bought in Hawaii, the outcome might've been different.About the work:
It has been two days since I last posted the last colorjob, and it is not incorrect to assume that this is because of my lack of internet connection, which as of the posting of this art, has finally returned for the moment. The reason why I chose this to color was because it is the only illustration remaining from NT Volume 3 that was not colored by either me or some Japanese colorist (search them on Pixiv)
Had fun with coloring Mikoto here. Adding my little touches, especially in the part of her eyes and lips, to make her a little more lively and expressive. The blushes were great fun.
As for the background, I tried to mimic Haimura's minimalistic approach towards them. I didn't want to draw anything over the background that did not correspond to the shape, as such, I simply colored them the way Haimura would do. It is much more complicated than I thought, and still, I have doubts, but I chose the yellow theme since it suited the warm atmosphere of a Hawaiian lobby in the afternoon.
